Holy Anointing Oil

What is it for, how to use it, is it biblical in the New Testament and which oil shall be used?
There is much more to tell about it that could fill a book.
This article is a helpful overview concerning holy anointing oil.

Pure from God appointed Oil is prayed over by anointed servants of God to become
Holy anointing Oil.

It is a tool for the servants of God ordained by the most high God the creator
of the universe and all things and of all life.
It is beside the Holy Bible the only physical tool we use in the kingdom of God

Anointing Oil is not the Anointing, it is not the Holy Spirit, It represents the anointing in the physical as a protective seal. It is a principle set by God to be used to pour on servants of God and kings, to seal them in their call. From that day on, the new servant of God is anointed by an anointed servant of God, by the will of God. There is no escape and no resignation, but sealed into the purpose and ministry God had ordained for us before we were formed in the womb of our mother. From that day on, everyone of us has to work out his or her ministry, with help from others or without help from others and to be obedient to the word of the LORD until we take our last breath
and leave this mortal body.



1st John 2 : 27 – 29
27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
28 And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.
29 If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.

Philippians 2 : 12
12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

The anointing oil is a symbol of the Holy Spirit; as Jesus was baptized the Holy Spirit fall on Jesus as a symbol of his anointing.
Matthew 3 : 16 -17 (also Luke 3 : 21 – 22)
16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:
17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.


The holy anointing oil is also used to anoint the house of prayer and worship. Many churches do not do an inauguration with an holy anointing oil ceremony and wondering why they go amiss.

Exodus 30 : 25
25 And thou shalt make it an oil of holy ointment, an ointment compound after the art of the apothecary: it shall be an holy anointing oil.
26 And thou shalt anoint the tabernacle of the congregation therewith, and the ark of the testimony,

This Holy anointing oil was a special mix that was not allowed to be done again.
God forbade it with a warning.


The holy anointing oil is also used for child dedication
As we dedicate the child in our prayer to the LORD and anoint it with oil,
We seal the child into his destination and it will reach it and the child will obey the Holy Spirit. This does not mean instantly as it grows, which is a pleasant things,
but also even after a while in the world.

We use it as we pray for the sick as it says in

James 5 : 14- 15

14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
It is used in deliverance prayers as it works similar to how it worked
with Paul and Peter

Acts 19 ; 11 – 12

11 And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul:
12 So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them.

Acts 5: 14 – 16

14 And believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women.)
15 Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them.
16 There came also a multitude out of the cities round about unto Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed every one.

Mark 6 : 17

13 And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them.


We use holy anointed oil for sanctification
For example if we like to go into fasting

Matthew 6 : 16 – 18

16 Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
17 But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face;
18 That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.

Also good to read Isaiah 58

We use holy anointing oil to worship The Lord

Mark 14 : 3 – 9

3 And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on his head.

4 And there were some that had indignation within themselves, and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made?

5 For it might have been sold for more than three hundred pence, and have been given to the poor. And they murmured against her.

6 And Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work on me.

7 For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always.

8 She hath done what she could: she is come aforehand to anoint my body to the burying.

9 Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her.

The faith of the person praying for the oil will enter into the oil.


We do not use the holy anointing oil as we think or others want,
but only as the Holy Spirit tells us.
Here is obedience and not pleasing of people.

1st Timothy 5 : 22

22 Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men's sins: keep thyself pure.


One word of God concerning the anointed people is

1st Chronicles 16 : 22

22 Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.

The person using the oil must also be of faith
If I use the holy anointing oil I have prayed for on myself, it will do no greater work then my faith.
That’s why a person with greater faith shall anoint those with less faith.

We have seen now many uses of the holy anointing oil and it shall be treated as holy anointing oil. Separated from any other oils or ointments.
It should be carried by the servants of God always.
Of course if I have a sick person or an unbeliever or a demonized person around me,
I can use it in the food with prayers.

WHICH OIL SHALL I USE?

Throughout the bible the prophets were using no other oil than olive oil
The olive tree has a special meaning from the beginning unto revelation.

Some olive trees grow more then 2000 years old.
The olive tree has hallow branches and the branches are the people,
also we can read it in John 15 when Jesus talks
about the vine and the husbandman and the branches

The hallow branch is us the believers the chosen and the hallow place
shall be filled with the anointing. We cannot bear fruit if we abide not in the Lord.
All the prophets have been using olive oil and no other. It is a holy tree for Israel.

The olive needs to be crushed and pressed to give the oil but it is bitter.
Through brimming it becomes sweet.

The Lord was crushed and and had our sins to carry to present himself to the Father after his resurrection. We get a good picture of it in

John 20 : 14 – 17

14 And when she had thus said, she turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus.
15 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.
16 Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.
17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.

She was not even allowed to touch him, if she would have touched Him, it would have been more bitter. It was bitter for the disciples to see Him dead and to burry Him. we even see the confusion after his dead the disciples had.

After He presented Himself to The Father and descended again he was purified (brimmed) and from there on all his work become sweet for us as we have salvation through his bitter suffering.

If we like to use oil to pray for to become holy anointing oil,
then I say we should not make any compromise and use olive oil.
To the question: shall we mix spices or herbs inside? 

The answer is strict no!

1st we read in Exodus 30 that God only once commanded a special mixture of holy anointed oil
It was not allowed do it again under a very strong warning.
From there it has never been stated that holy anointing oil shall be mixed with anything.

2nd we are not pharmacist's that produce healing ointments

The oil used for anointing oil must be pure.

We also know that there are emergency situations were no olive oil is available and here I say it is fine to use another oil for this emergency but replace it later with olive oil.

if there is no oil, then we can only for the emergency situation use a pure clean water.
If there is no oil and no water we can use saliver.

John 9 : 6 - 7

6 When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay,

7 And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.

 But all this emergency facts apply only if the Holy Spirit guides us to it. Otherwise it is better not to use anything but our prayer if no olive oil is available.



One word of my concern

It has become a business to some churches, to sell little bottles of
(anointed oil) and not in small numbers but even in big scale.

I am against it because a church is not suppose to do business and especially
not with things of the kingdom of God.

Matthew 21:12-13

12 And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves,

13 And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.

It is better to buy your own oil and go to someone with faith and who is faithful to the Lord and pray over it. Yes we can give a love gift this is fully ok and God loves it. But to buy it from a church is not biblical and I trust, that the Lord does not like it either.

Another concern

As a servant of God, I shall not use the anointing oil of another servant, unless I know his faith is greater than mine and he is faithfully to the Lord.
We know that many pastors use witchcraft to become famous and powerful and rich.
Not only pastors but false prophets and false evangelist and false preachers also.
That’s why also I am not a friend of brethren buying oil from a church.
Always be wise and have an open spirit to hear what the Spirit of spirits tells.

In doubt of the Oil I need to use of another servant, because of the situation, I shall pray over the oil.




SAMPLE PRAYER

Father in heaven almighty God and creator, author and finisher of salvation, holy, righteous, just, merciful, loving and kind, omnipresent and omniscient.

I stand before you on this day, with my hands being lifted up unto you
in adoration as your child through the sacrifice of your only beloved son Jesus Christ.

I ask you in your kindness and mercy, to forgive me for my trespasses I have committed
as I stand before you and repent and say sorry, as I also forgive those that have wronged me.

Sanctify me and wash me with the precious and powerful blood
of our Lord Jesus Christ so that I stand holy and acceptable before you.

I thank you Father for your mercy and forgiveness.

Father I stand before you having pure oil in my hand and I present it to you to sanctify it.

I pray Lord, that your finger will touch this oil and to release the anointing into it.

So that everyone coming in contact with it, direct or indirect, will receive of your mercies and prisoners being set free, sick be healed, barren will be fruitful is it people or land or business.

I pray Lord that your will shall be done by applying this oil and that evil will be destroyed.

I pray Lord that those that will be shown unto me to anoint to be commissioned into their from you appointed office will be sealed in it.

I pray Lord that children which will be anointed by it in dedications to you for your glory,
will be sealed into their from you appointed destination.

I pray Lord in the name of Jesus Christ that as you give ear to my prayer
to make this oil holy for the glory of your holy name.

Lord I pray, that sinners and those who walk in darkness coming in contact by this oil direct or indirect will be convicted by the Holy Spirit to seek you, to be convicted of their sin, to be convicted to search in the word of God to find the way into salvation turning away from their evil ways as you say that you have no pleasure for the wicked to die,
but for them to repent and to return to your ways and live.

Father I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, that you give me wisdom
to use this holy anointing oil for the glory of your name, not to waste it
or to throw your pearls to the swine’s. Let me have an open eye in the spirit.

I also pray father that on every doorpost the oil is applied you protect that house, the land and business and ministry from evil and destruction, from division and fight, from, loss and all works of the evil but make it united, walking in your ways, prosperous and a place where will be said,
this is a place where people of the most high God live
and God is found in them.

Let everyone who comes in contact with this holy anointed oil, be pushed to preach the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ without fear and trembling but in boldness and with faith and wisdom for your glory to populate thy kingdom.

Lord God almighty, let this holy anointed be a sign of your irresistible favor with all people
as we apply it on oourself or the people we pray for.

I give praise and glory to you in adoration in worship and thanks for your goodness and for the power you have given unto me to have become a child of God
and the power you have implemented in me to destroy evil.



All glory and power and adoration is unto you my holy and loving God
